On December 21st, the campaign of Libretas Confia (Trust Books) was closed. These financial books have been supporting families in the area of El Barrero throughout the quarantine period.
The system consisted of a register book, where the storekeeper wrote down the products delivered to a certain family with a limit of $40,000. This way, that family could buy the food they really needed at the time, excluding liquor, cigarettes and gambling.
The project had the double objective of supporting, on the one hand, the families who were in economic difficulties in quarantine and, on the other, to strengthen local commerce, allowing the money to remain in the neighbourhood at the time that Fondacio deposited the amount with that grocer thanks to the donations received from third parties.
The initiative began with a group of 15 families and ended up bringing together a total of 60.
These families were the ones who, to close the year and the confia campaign, received in a ceremony some boxes made by the same attached stores, in which gifts were added for all those who had children under 13 years old.
The event included games, testimonies and songs. Furthermore, it was divided into two groups, in order to respect the sanitary measures corresponding to the capacity and social distance.
